Price: Dh130 for 35 minutes
Tilia and Finn is the latest concept to open at luxury store Boutique 1 at The Walk. With a reputation for on-trend fashion, super stylish accessories and a host of products from cosmetics to contemporary interiors, the shop is a must-go-to for all fashionistas. Now it has gone one step further and opened a spa and beauty salon. Decorated in fresh colours and chic cottage style furnishings it is like walking into a house rather than a clinical salon and provides a variety of grooming services under one roof. I opted for the wash and blow dry. As it only takes 35 minutes for long hair, it is the ideal way to finish off a day of retail therapy. After a brief consultation with the stylist, I was whisked to have my hair washed using the gorgeous mint scented Philip B products. After a blow dry with various brushes I left with a smile on my face and a bouncy barnet that wouldn't have looked out of place on the red carpet.

The spa is unlike any other I have come across in Dubai. Far from the usual low lighting scented walkways this is bright and cheery. The reason is that the concept is based on colour therapy, everything is colourful from the large candles to the choice of robes. My consultant told me about the philosophy – and explained I was to be massaged a certain way depending on what colours I chose. At first skeptical that colour vibrations could help me 'deal with baggage,' I quickly changed my mind when I was drawn to certain shades. I was then lead to the spa area which housed the changing room, a steam room and infrared sauna. I chose my robe (blue) and had my massage, which was a very pleasant experience. The scent of the oil was lovely and the massage very relaxing. After some fresh tea and a read through some of the books (meditation, yoga etc) on offer, I felt very calm, something I was told would happen using the colours I chose. Whether the colour used in the massage helped me embrace my inner child, I am unsure, but the vibrancy and holistic nature of this spa ensured I had a relaxing experience and one I would recommend to anyone who fancies a different type of treatment in Dubai.
