Poland under pressure to curb deficit quickly

Poland's Government came under pressure from EU authorities yesterday to rein in its yawning budget deficit more quickly, as subdued sales and jobless data pointed to a bumpy road ahead for the economy. Polish consumers spent less than expected last month and unemployment rose to its highest level in nearly three years, the data showed.
