Kuwait inflation slowed down to 4% in 2009

Kuwait's annual inflation slowed to four per cent last year, its lowest level since 2006, from a peak of 10.6 percent in 2008, the state news agency Kuna reported yesterday.

Kuwait's consumer price index stood at 136 points in 2009, compared with an average of 130.8 points in 2008, Kuna said, citing data from the Gulf country's statistics office. It did not give details.

The global crisis cut growth rates across the Gulf, reducing consumer price growth from 2008 record peaks.
