The Abu Dhabi Executive Committee yesterday approved a memo by the Finance Department on the budget of Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee for 2009-2010.

In a meeting chaired by Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Member of the Executive Council, the committee also approved projects of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (Adwea).

The projects are related to the five-year plan 2008-2012 of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority and its group of companies.

They cover the development of the electricity distribution grid in Al Aryam Island, installation of electromagnetic water meters and flow-control valves in new concrete rooms on feeding lines for Abu Dhabi island sectors, the supply and installation of a local water network, and the development of the water network in various areas of Al Ain.

Al Aryam Island will be supplied with energy from the main transformation station in Al Dhabaiya.

The Executive Committee also approved the Abu Dhabi Sewage Services Company project to set up discharge lines in Abu Dhabi island and the mainland.

The project will help speed up the completion of all projects in the island, alleviate the housing problem in Abu Dhabi and provide a sophisticated social environment.

The committee discussed a host of other issues and memos as well as a number of suggestions and decisions to develop and boost projects in the emirate.
