Al Adil Supermarkets, and one of the leading chains of supermarkets in the UAE, yesterday said it has embarked on a major expansion plan.

The chain will be opening four new retail outlets this year, taking its tally to 10 by the end of this year. Al Adil Supermarkets primarily caters to the approximately 2.5 million South Asian expats in the UAE.

Al Adil Supermarkets currently runs six retail outlets in the UAE – three in Dubai, two in Sharjah and one in Abu Dhabi. The planned four new stores will be set up in strategic locations where the company has nil presence. Al Adil Supermarkets will be entering Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah for the first time in its history of 25 years of operations in the UAE.

"Year 2009 is our Silver Jubilee year. The company has had a successful run in the past and we would like to leverage this for an even brighter future," said Dhananjay Datar, Managing Director, Al Adil Group of Companies.
