India's PM says worst of food inflation is over

India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the worst of food inflation is over and that the nation will soon be able to stabilise prices. "Food prices have softened in recent weeks and I expect this to continue," Singh said at a conference of state chief ministers in New Delhi yesterday, according to the text of the prime minister's speech on the government's website.
