Darfur sees violence-free voting

Voting in the war-torn western Sudanese region of Darfur proceeded calmly yesterday, despite complaints by some residents that they had trouble understanding the process. No violence was reported in Darfur, from which European Union monitors pulled out before polling day citing security concerns. "The situation is calm," said one peacekeeper with the UN-African Union mission.
