Canada asks banks to stop insurance web sales

Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said he can "cause" the country's banks to remove web-site marketing of their insurance services if they don't reach an "amicable conclusion" on the issue.

Flaherty asked lenders on October 7 to "quickly" remove marketing for their insurance operations from their websites, saying it violates government restrictions.
