A Japanese passenger plane tilted during landing at a western Japanese airport, damaging part of its left wing and causing a runway to close temporarily.

Japan Airlines spokeswoman Mari Yanagawa says none of its 168 passengers and crew members on Flight 2242 from northern Niigata were injured during Wednesday’s touchdown at the Osaka International Airport.

The aircraft, a MD81, damaged its landing light and slats as the left wing rubbed against the ground, forcing a one-hour runway closure for cleaning of debris and safety check.

Yanagawa says the cause of the incident is under investigation.
