Suspected insurgents killed in Kashmir
The Indian army said fierce gunbattles between soldiers and rebels killed nine insurgents in Kashmir yesterday. Five rebels who crossed over to the Indian portion of Kashmir from the Pakistani side were killed in a shootout in the Keran area, said Lt Colonel JS Brar, an Indian army spokesman. Four more militants were killed in two other gunbattles in the region, said Lt Colonel Biplab Nath, another spokesman.
