Teen held for stabbing of Indian in Australia
Australian police have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the stabbing death of an Indian student, one of a string of highly publicized attacks on Indian nationals in the country.
Victoria state police arrested the teen Thursday morning.
They say he is expected to be charged with one count of murder in the killing of Nitin Garg, who was attacked while walking through a park in January.
Garg's slaying was one of several incidents of street violence that occurred in late 2009 and early 2010 against Indian students in Melbourne.
The attacks received wide publicity in India, with some outlets there claiming they were racially motivated.
Australian police said that while some of the attacks may have been racially motivated, many were ordinary crimes.
