Dubai International Capital (DIC) has renewed its interest in buying Liverpool FC, and could bid around £500 million (Dh3.6 billion) for the English football club.

The Dubai-based investment company's interest has been rekindled after the club’s new American owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr, are reportedly experiencing difficulties in securing the remaining £350 million (Dh2.5 billion) to help pay off the group's liabilities.

The Observer newspaper quoted unnamed sources who confirmed DIC’s active bid to take over the club.

Sources in Dubai would not confirm the news when contacted today by Emirates Business.

Last February, DIC offered to buy Liverpool but was turned down in favour of Hicks and Gillett.  At the time, DIC said that it would not overpay for assets.
