The Dubai International Horse Fair (DIHF) was opened by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday.

Following the opening ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan toured the show, which this year has attracted more than 200 firms from 30 countries.

Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre, DIHF will run until tomorrow.

Billed as the most international equestrian event ever held in the Middle East, the show saw record numbers of visitors on its first day. This year’s event runs alongside the Fifth Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship. It is a three-day competition for purebred Arabian horses, showcasing their beauty, agility and heritage, culminating in the championship classes for the most exquisite horses.

“The response from both visitors and exhibitors has been extremely strong, with many international attendees saying the show is now firmly among the world’s best equestrian events,” said Abdulla Qassem, board member, Higher Organising Committee of Dubai International Horse Fair and Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.
