The creation of a hub for the human resource development (HRD) and human resource management (HRM) markets has been showcased at a conference by Dubai Knowledge Village.

The free zone part of Tecom Investments is home to more than 400 human resources firms and training centres. The cluster specialises in HRD and HRM, professional testing, management training and consultancy services.

“We channel our endeavours towards actively participating in initiatives that place the Middle East on the global map as a destination for learning and HRD excellence,” said Dr Ayoub Kazim, executive director of the Village and Dubai International Academic City.

“Dubai Knowledge Village has consistently organised forums and events for business partners as well as professionals to develop their skills.”

Kazim was speaking at the IFTDO World Conference and Exhibition in Dubai, which was held in the Middle East for the first time.

IFTDO the International Federation of Training and Development Organisations is a global initiative promoting HRD as an effective organisational tool across all sectors of society.

“The conference will help to raise awareness on the role of HRM and HRD in a knowledge economy,” said Kazim.

“Hosting such significant events is a major milestone for Dubai, contributing to its objective of transforming itself into a knowledge-based economy.”

The conference attracted HRD managers, trainers, facilitators, business professionals and educators.

The event addressed the latest developments, trends, scientific research and technological advances in the field of HRD practices and their impact on the dissemination, acquisition and application of knowledge.

Discussions at the forum covered knowledge creation, HRM, the use of new technology in education and training and the latest socio-economic trends.
