The Dubai skyline is now recognised all over the world with some of its projects winning international accolades. Out of the two recently announced international awards, six Dubai-based companies won top honours, competing against global applicants from more than 50 countries.

Roshan Construction LLC of Dubai was handed the International Construction Award from Trade Leaders’ Club in Spain. Minoo Jamaji, Managing Director, Roshan Construction, said Dubai-based companies winning global awards was a reflection of the enhanced business opportunity provided by the emirate.

“There are so many iconic projects coming up in Dubai and it’s no surprise that these have gone global. Gone are the days when Dubai was vying for the top slot at a regional level. The aim is now to be the world’s best,” said Jamaji.

Recently, five UAE-based companies won top accolades at the prestigious International Property awards at Los Angeles, often referred to as the Oscars of the real estate sector.

Standing out among more than 200 participants from 56 countries were Dubai’s Damac Properties, Omniyat Properties, Owings & Merrill, Sheth Estate and the Oryx Corporation that won five of the top eighteen awards.

Winning the Best International Apartment category was the region’s most technologically advanced building The iPad by Omniyat properties. Dubbed as the world’s first cybertecture apartment tower The iPad has technologies such as real-time projection feeds (iReality) and bathrooms fitted with health monitoring equipment.

The Best International Architecture award (multiple unit) was won by Sheth Estate for Iris Blue while Damac’s La Residence won the Best International High Rise Development.

The International Property Awards ceremony, held in association with CNBC, was held in Las Vegas on November 16. The awards, now in their 13th year, is the largest ceremony of its kind in the world.
