Lebanese singer Elissa has moved to mobile screens after signing an advertising contract with a mobile phone company at a press conference at the Mirage Hotel in Dubai.

Samsung signed the Arab singer with international appeal in a bid to push the Impulz i450, their flagship music-dedicated phone, which is part of their new line of musical rhythm phones for 2008. Samsung’s campaign slogan is “Your Music Is Calling”.

“It is my pleasure to be Samsung Mobiles’ brand ambassador for its music category,” said Elissa.

“The Impulz i450 is a great mobile phone; its advanced features make it easier for my fans to listen to my music, wherever they go.”

For the next year Samsung’s Impulz i450 will come packaged with three of Elissa’s hit singles, Ayami Bik, Bastanak and Moush Kiteer Aaleik.

The i450 is available at retail outlets across the Middle East, retailing at Dh1,499.

Elissa has worked hard to reach this level of popularity and she is now enjoying the fruits of her labour. In the past few months she promoted the release of her new album Bastanak (I’m Waiting for You).

Elissa’s music has proved to be a success and her songs have earned the number one spot on many music charts in the Arab world.

The album, produced by Rotana, has seized the number one spot in Virgin Mega Stores around the Arab region with the highest record sales. The music video for the main song, also titled Bastanak, has also earned the number one slot on several regional and international charts.

Elissa’s reputation as a performer adds to her branding value and the singer has already participated in several other advertising campaigns.

Elissa will hold a concert on Thursday in Qatar, sponsored by a clothing company. She will travel the next day to Kuwait to participate in the Hala Febrayer festival.

Recently, Elissa held a concert in Lebanon for an airline promotion and another one in Cairo for an Egyptian phone company.
