Liberal Democrats to seek tax reform

Nick Clegg, leader of the UK's opposition Liberal Democrat Party, said he will demand tax reform and a new electoral system if his party holds the balance of power after this year's general election.

He told party activists at a conference in Birmingham, central England, yesterday he will also press for more money for school children from poor areas and to shift the balance of the economy away from financial services by investing in green manufacturing.

The party will act as "guarantors" that no risks are taken with Britain's finances, he said.
