More than 2,000 delegates from 85 countries are scheduled to attend the bi-annual Women As Global Leaders Conference organised by Zayed University, which will be held in Dubai from March 10 to 12.

Delegates will be drawn from all sectors including education, government, and non-governmental organisations. The three-day conference will take place under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation, under the theme Learning Leadership.

The conference aims to build bridges that unite female students from around the world as participants meet with internationally renowned women leaders, share ideas, and engage in debate on eadership issues.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of Zayed University, will open the conference.

Speaking about the conference, Sheikh Nahyan said it would focus on women’s emerging and current leadership roles across the globe as well as the practice of educating students for and about leadership, with each other and with some of the most prominent women leaders in the world today.

He also acknowledged the support Sheikha Fatima, who is also chairperson of General Women’s Union and President of the Arab Women Organisation, has shown for the event as it reflects her deep support of women’s empowerment.

The president of the university also drew attention to the success this bi-annual conference has achieved and the contribution of Zayed University’s students.

Sulaiman Al Jassim, vice-president of Zayed University, emphasised the importance of the conference in determining ways of preparing young women as future global leaders, as it includes presentations by prominent world leaders and personalities sharing ideas on the topic of leadership. (Wam)
