A declaration to bind 15 establishments involved in Abu Dhabi's infrastructure development to its sustainability efforts has been signed in the capital.

The declaration, called Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group, was signed between the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (Ead), the emirate's leader in conservation, and 15 organisations that include government departments and investment companies.

Majid Al Mansouri, Ead Secretary-General, told Emirates Business the move was an achievement following the launch of the government's green building codes earlier.

The initiative, he said, was aimed at making the emirate sustainable in environment, health, safety, natural resources, economy, finance and cultural values.

"We have 15 organisations from various sectors committing their activities to our sustainability efforts. It is a major development in Abu Dhabi's efforts in its eco protection and sustainability efforts," he said.
