Arab Water Academy opens in Abu Dhabi

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met Arab and other delegates attending the inauguration of Abu Dhabi-based Arab Water Academy.
The academy has been set up by Abu Dhabi Environment Agency in co-operation with the Arab Council for Water and the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture with support from the Islamic Development Bank and World Bank.
The Crown Prince was briefed by the delegation of ministers and officials from the Arab world and international organisations on the strategic importance of the academy. They said the academy will be a significant training centre to boost skills and potential of workers in the integrated management of water resources.
Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE's support to all initiatives that aim to achieve Arab water security.
He said the water resources issue is acquiring an exceptional importance and that the world is increasingly getting concerned about the availability and quality of water, which has heavily depleted.
