The Dubai Public Prosecution yesterday objected to repeated delays in an on-going case of financial wrongdoings in real estate developer Deyaar, which has caused it to stretch for over a year now.

The Public Prosecution's representative at Dubai Court of Misdemeanour yesterday raised the objection when lawyer Ali Al Shamsi, who is representing the first defendant in the case sought more time to look into a report filed by an audit expert containing the details of commissions allegedly received by the defendants in the case.

The defendants' list in the case, which is named Deyaar 3, includes ZS (American), GK (Indian), SB (Lebanese), KM (Argentinean), HS (Palestinian), JB (Indian), HS (Pakistani), JM (Indian) and NS (Indian).

The prosecution also objected to Al Shamsi's request to look into powers given by Deyaar's chairman to each defendant in the case. The prosecution representative said the powers of the defendants are included in the case documents.

In addition, the representative objected to a request by Al Shamsi to enquire into the first defendant's account statements at Mashreq and Dubai Islamic Bank between March 2005 and March 2008.

The representative said the account statements had been already examined at the two banks as part of an audit report prepared by the Financial Audit Department.

The court adjourned the case to March 3 to enable the defence and Deyaar's lawyers to look into a report presented yesterday by Mohammed Mustafa Hussein an expert at the Financial Audit Department.
