The first defendant in the Deyaar 3 case, ZS, yesterday submitted a memo alleging 14 cases of forgery in the report compiled by Mohammed Mustafa Hussein, the expert from the Financial Audit Department.
Only seven of the nine defendants were present for yesterday's hearing at the Dubai Court of Misdemeanour. Deyaar lawyer Khalid Al Hamrani requested Judge Rifaat Mahmoud to note that ZS spoke Arabic well, though he had claimed that he only spoke English. The court had asked for documents to be translated into English, but till yesterday some of these were yet to be completed.
The translated documents showed that Deyaar had signed an agreement to buy 110 villas and two buildings in Turkey at a cost of $13 million.
Emirates Business has learned that two lists of powers had been given to ZS, Deyaar's former chief executive officer, by MK, the company's chairman and a former minister.
The first list was from 2005 to the end of 2006 and the second was from January 2007 till MK left his company post. The case has been adjourned to April 19.
