Abu Dhabi is expanding its airport to receive 20 million passengers within seven years as the emirate expects a massive inflow of tourists and businessmen within its long-term development plan, officials have said.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Planning and Economy briefed a Japanese delegation on the expansion project at the international airport and other development plans for nearly 200 islands that have mostly been uninhabited.
"Once the expansion project is completed in 2015, the Abu Dhabi airport will be able to receive more than 20 million passengers a year," said Hamad Al Mas, Director of International Relations at DPE. "The development projects also cover nearly 200 Abu Dhabi islands," he told the delegation.
