Filipina denies stealing mobile phone

A 29-year-old Filipina accused of stealing a mobile phone denied charges yesterday at the Dubai Criminal Court.

MA, the accused, who worked in the Moscow Hotel, said she saw the mobile phone, a Nokia worth Dh1,230, but did not take it.

Earlier, the phone's owner, Mohammed Mahmoud Al Haddad, said he was at the hotel's disco and went over to say hello to a friend leaving the mobile on his table.

When he returned and discovered it was gone he called the police.

The court adjourned the case until December 8.
