Khalifa mourns Ahmed's death

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, yesterday mourned the death of his brother Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away following a glider crash in Morocco.

The glider, in which Sheikh Ahmed was travelling, crashed into an artificial lake created by the Sidi Mohammed bin Abdullah dam on Friday.

Prayers will be offered for the deceased at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi after afternoon prayers today, following the arrival of the body from Morocco.

Ministry of Presidential Affairs has announced a three-day mourning beginning today. Flags will fly at half-mast.

Sheikh Khalifa will receive condolences at Al Mushrif Palace after the burial.

Sheikh Ahmed was the managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (Adia) – the world's largest sovereign wealth fund.
