The Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD), a programme designed to develop future national leaders, is planning to double the number of leadership events from 192 in 2008 to 492 for this year.

This is to help better equip Dubai's leaders during the crisis, Adel Al Shared, CEO of MBRPLD told Emirates Business.

"During recession, we need to train people to deal with recession. So we are doubling the budget," he said on the sidelines of thevirtual courtroom trial at the DIFC courts yesterday.

"We are going to run massive leadership programmes for the infrastructure sector, for the women and for the fresh graduates."

"We re training leaders and project managers in electricity, water, utilities and RTA. Certainly we don't give loans but we train leaders how to act fast and smart during crisis times," he added.

The virtual courtroom trial was a part of the newly developed "Creating the Future and Driving Change" module for MBRPLD's government leaders- level participants.

The new module offers a unique approach to learning as it conducts an in-depth examination of the Dubai Strategic Plan and the issue of sustainability in a simulated approach to the steps of litigation from the perspective of a courtroom trial.

MBRPLD has designed the new module to involve all 33 participants, who will assume various roles during the simulated courtroom proceedings. The activity aims to encourage participants to use their analytical abilities to discover innovative and efficient ways to drive the changes required for the sustainability and growth of Dubai.
