Mohammed in Kazakhstan

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met yesterday President Nursultan A Nazarbayev during his visit to Kazakhstan.

The president welcomed Sheikh Mohammed and the two discussed bilateral ties and ways to boost co-operation in joint investments and development projects in a meeting held at the presidential palace.

The Crown Prince, who conveyed greetings from the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, was accompanied by the Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ways to strengthen relations, particularly in economic and trade sectors. Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE was keen to leverage partnership with Kazakhstan and to promote meetings between businessmen and officials in the two countries. Prime Minister Karim Masimov viewed a model of the latest UAE investment project – Abu Dhabi Plaza. It is a mixed-use development that will be built in the Economic Zone in Astana.

The project, developed by Aldar Properties and Al Maabar International, will be located near the presidential palace in the centre of Astana. It will be made up of a retail podium, an integrated public plaza, residential apartments, international grade office accommodations and a hotel quarter. The development is scheduled for completion in 2012.

At the end of the meeting, President Nazarbayev praised the progress achieved by the UAE and credited the prudent leadership of Sheikh Khalifa.

The delegation included: Secretary General of the Executive Council Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Director of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Office Abdullah Muhair Al Kutbi, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Diwan Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Aldar Properties Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, and UAE Ambassador Ibrahim Hassan Saif.
