In a bid to bring the UAE at the forefront of the high-performing governments in the world, the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Government Excellence Programme was launched yesterday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE?and Ruler of Dubai
Stressing upon the vital role the programme would play in building the machinery of excellence in the federal government, Sheikh Mohammed gave his approval in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi.
Sheikh Mohammed said government excellence and best practice be promoted under the programme through the introduction of creative initiatives, based on scientific methodology. He also spoke about the need to further focus on the improvement of education, government services and the exchange of expertise among public and private entities to encourage sustainable development.
Sheikh Mohammed went on to describe how, with support and training in creative thinking, UAE nationals would prosper and learn to shoulder the responsibilities of federal government with confidence and merit.
Among the features of the new programme, high-achieving federal employees will compete for the UAE award for government performance excellence and the Prime Minister's prize for distinguished service.
