Nakheel takes delivery of The Palm monorail trains

Developer Nakheel has taken delivery of the trains that will run the length of The Palm Jumeirah's monorail.
Company officials took receipt of the vehicles at a ceremony at manufacturer Hitachi Kasado Works, in Tokuyama City, Japan.
A Nakheel spokesman said final inspections were now completed, with the monorail trains commencing their journey to Dubai, where they will arrive in October when live testing will begin.
This is the first monorail project to be constructed in the Middle East. Nakheel recently sent members of its monorail operation and maintenance team to Japan to receive management and technical training from the Osaka monorail.
The 5.45km Palm monorail, which is due to go live on April 1, will run between the Gateway Station at the base of the trunk of The Palm Jumeirah to the Atlantis' Aquaventure station on the Crescent, calling at two stations on the way – at Trump International Hotel & Tower, and the forthcoming Palm Mall.
