The Dh44 million Nakheel Waterfront corruption case was adjourned yesterday for the third time after prosecution witness Mohammed Mustafa Hussein, an auditor at the Financial Audit Department of the Dubai Ruler's Court, failed to appear.

Hussein compiled an audit report concerning the case, and defence lawyers are insisting on questioning him about its contents. Dubai Criminal Court received a letter of apology from the department that said the witness was busy working on issues related to his job.

Australians MJ, 43, Waterfront's former CEO, and MR, 44, the former commercial manager, are accused of obtaining Dh44m illegally along with others who are on the run. Lawyer Ali Al Shamsi, representing MJ, said there was a problem regarding his client's sponsorship.
