Sheikh Hamdan meets Indonesian VP

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, who is leading a UAE delegation to Indonesia, was received in Jakarta yesterday by Yusuf Kalla, the Indonesian Vice- President.

In a meeting between the two leaders, Kalla called for boosting economic, investment and trade relations between the UAE and Indonesia, in line with the wishes and directives of the leadership of both countries.

He praised the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who have called for activating joint investment projects between the two countries.

Kalla said Indonesia boasts great economic, trade and investment potential and a fertile investment environment.

He said Indonesian companies had played a significant role in the UAE's ongoing industrial development and construction sector, further strengthening co-operation between the two countries in investment and trade for mutual benefit.

Touching on bilateral co-operation in the economic, trade and investment spheres, the Indonesian Vice- President said his country's companies are deeply interested in developing these ties further by seizing the great opportunities and attractive facilities and incentives being offered to foreign investors by the UAE.

He expressed great confidence on the continuous growth of economic ties and trade relations between the two countries.

The UAE and Indonesian sides later held a formal bilateral meeting, with Sheikh Hamdan heading the UAE side and Kalla leading his country's officials. They reviewed bilateral relations and ways to boost them in all fields, especially in the economic arena. Sheik Hamdan highlighted potential areas of investment in the UAE and Abu Dhabi's five-year development plan. He welcomed partnership between the two sides in these initiatives. He cited the development seen by the UAE's oil sector and the possibility of Indonesia benefiting from the UAE's experience in this area.
