President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the UAE looked forward to building a strategic partnership with the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Sheikh Khalifa spoke after his arrival in the capital, Astana, for a three-day state visit to the former Soviet state. He expressed hope his talks with President Nursultan Nazarbayev would give a push to ties of co-operation, adding the growth in relations over the past years had led to several joint projects and investments.

The President said official relations had offered a proper environment for initiatives by the private sector in both countries and which were embodied in a number of joint real estate, tourism and production projects.

Sheikh Khalifa highlighted Kazakhstan's encouragement of foreign investment, a thing which opens the door wide for the UAE private sector to invest in various fields, including infrastructure projects as well as those linked to investment in oil and mineral natural resources which are open to foreign investors.

Sheikh Khalifa said the UAE was looking forward to executing some agricultural projects in Kazakhstan as strategy to develop stable sources of food for its people. (Wam)
