UAE, UK vow to boost relations

Dubai Deputy Ruler and UAE Finance Minister, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, yesterday received at his office the visiting Lord Mayor of the City of London, Ian Luder.

During the meeting, which was held in the presence of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Governor Dr Omar Mohammed Ahmed bin Sulaiman, they discussed a number of issues related to co-operation between financial and banking institutions in the UAE and the UK, in view of the global financial and economic developments.

Sheikh Hamdan welcomed any form of joint co-operation and concerted efforts aimed at winning back confidence in financial markets worldwide.

Luder expressed confidence in UAE financial markets and banking sector. He added that the UAE financial markets, as a leading market in the region, was capable of overcoming the negative impact of the global crisis.
