Vehicle blaze on Sheikh Zayed Road

A car burst into flame on the Sheikh Zayed service road in Dubai today while in transit with its driver and her young child.

The driver, a British woman who declined to give her name, told Emarat Al Youm that she had been travelling in her Range Rover from Jumeira when she noticed smoke pouring from the air-conditioning unit. She managed to stop the vehicle on the service road, in front of English College, before the fire started and both she and her daughter of approximately four years exited safely.

The driver then contacted the authorities. Dubai Police and Civil Defence arrived quickly and Civil Defence firefighters extinguished the blaze.
