Verdicts in seven cases announced

The Dubai Criminal Court yesterday announced verdicts in seven separate cases, sentencing convicts of various nationalities to prison terms ranging from three months to a year.

TY, a Malaysian, was sentenced to one year in prison followed by deportation for forging two passports and credit cards. He used the forged documents to purchase watches and jewellery worth Dh30,800.

Nepalese, SS, was sentenced to six months and deportation for stealing a petrol-filling card from the Oilfields Supply Centre, where he used to work.

He used the card to buy Dh18,000 worth of petrol.

Pakistani, MO, was given six months followed by deportation for forging three driving licences in his own country for the use of others inside the UAE.

Policeman, AH, was sentenced to three months and ordered to return a modem he had stolen, as well as pay the value of telephone calls he had made.

AH stole the modem and a mobile telephone SIM card belonging to the police. He used the card to make international calls.

KR, a Nepalese, received a one-year sentence followed by deportation for harassing two Filipinas on a road.

Another Nepalese, MB, a former taxi driver, was given three months and deportation for stealing a mobile phone belonging to a passenger who forgot it in his vehicle.
