Pakistani stocks tumbled in early trading Monday as an uncertain political outlook and widespread violence after the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto hit investor sentiment and triggered a selling spree.

Soon after opening, the benchmark Karachi Stock Exchange's 100-share index had plunged by 4.4 per cent - one of its biggest ever single day falls.
