A rockslide has killed seven people and seriously injured another in central Vietnam, police said Friday.
The bodies of seven workers, including six women, were pulled from the rubble Thursday night in Thach Ha District in Ha Tinh province, said district police officer Nguyen Minh.
The workers were loading stone onto a truck earlier in the day when the rockslide occurred, Minh said. The accident injured another female worker, who remained in serious condition in a hospital Friday, he said.
No rain had fallen in the region recently and authorities are investigating the cause of the slide, Minh said.
In the neighboring province of Nghe An, authorities have recovered the bodies of 16 workers who were killed in a similar rock slide two weeks ago, the Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper reported Thursday. Two other workers remained unaccounted for.
