Sheikh Mohammed launches Dh200bn environment project

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, a huge project to preserve and protect the environment and increase green spaces in the country.
 
The project, worth Dh200 billion, will be carried out by Dubai Properties, a member company of Dubai Holding.  The total area of the project will be 880 million square foot, of which 73 per cent will be greenery. 

Sheikh Mohammed reviewed a huge model of the project and watched a presentation on its scope and developments. He expressed his satisfaction with the creative ideas incorporated in the gardens, which will include educational, historical and humanitarian projects.
 
Also present were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and CEO of Dubai Holding, and Lieutenant-General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Director of Sheikh Mohammed’s office.

Al Gergawi said the project reflected Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to create a clean environment for the UAE and was in line with his concern for the health and welfare of future generations.
