The first Gulf Films Festival, which starts today at the Dubai Community Arts Centre at Mall of the Emirates, received an overwhelming response form the local media and was supported by some of the leading names in the market.

The top UAE firms who have pledged their support for the event include Arab Media Group (AMG), Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) and Showtime.

Masoud Amralla Al Ali, Festival Director of GFF, said: “GFF and all the media partners have their roots in the Middle East and share a similar international goal of aiming globally while retaining local values and traditions.

“The Festival is confident in its ability to raise the profile of the region worldwide and we are excited about reaching this objective with the support of our esteemed patrons.”

Abdullatif Al Sayegh, CEO of Arab Media Group, said: “AMG believes in creativity, innovation and quality, so it is natural for us to support events such as GFF that recognise excellence in the entertainment industry.

“Although the mediums are different, GFF and AMG remain committed to a common objective of introducing diverse entertainment choices from across the region to bring people closer and showcase the creative brilliance that exists in this region.”

Hussain Ali Lootah, CEO of DMI, said: “It is our duty to support an ambitious cultural event such as GFF that gathers talent from the GCC and the Arab world in Dubai. Events like GFF play a huge role in shaping Dubai’s cultural landscape and we are delighted to be associated with the event.”

Marc-Antoine d’Halluin, Showtime’s President and CEO, said: “We are proud to support this great initiative which confirms our commitment to promoting the region’s most promising talents. This region proves that it thrives with young talent in many areas. Our role as a media company is to offer them the right environment to excel.”
