Train rams bus in Bangladesh killing 17

An official says at least 17 people are dead after a train plowed through a packed bus at a railway crossing in central Bangladesh.

Local government administrator Akhtar Ali Sarkar says the accident occurred early Wednesday at an unmanned railway crossing in Tangail district. The area is about 80 kilometres (miles) north of capital, Dhaka.

Sarkar says an additional 19 people have been taken to hospital. He says all the victims were from the bus. No major damage to the Ekota Express train has been reported. (AP)
