A leadership programme to help encourage talent within the UAE Government was launched yesterday in collaboration with international universities and training institutions. The UAE Government Leaders Programme seeks to foster professional competencies, and to provide new insight and a thought-provoking experience on the attributes of leadership. Building and guiding efficient teams, and developing clear vision and mission objectives are among the other focus areas of the programme.

“Preparing aspiring leaders who can adopt and endorse a work culture of excellence is imperative for delivering the highest quality of government work. There is a growing need for future leaders who can absorb the ethos of the UAE Government Strategy and successfully channel this knowledge to their teams,” Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said.

Launched under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the programme will focus on federal employees in three different levels.

The Strategic Leaders Programme will target director-generals at the UAE ministries and federal authorities, while the Executive Leaders Programme will focus on executive directors and directors at the federal entities. The Future Leaders Programme will be extended to the remaining grades of federal leaders.

The 18-month Executive Leaders Programme is scheduled for an early launch and includes 30 participants.

The year-long Strategic Leaders Programme will be launched later this year and brings together 20 director-generals, while the Future Leaders Programme will be conducted over 18 months and draws as many as 30 participants.
