AMIR KHAN

The Bolton-born boxer enters the ring with former British super-featherweight Michael Gomez tonight in Birmingham.

Gomez skipped the pre-fight press conference, which led the undefeated Khan to claim the 30-year-old was "running scared".

Instead the Irishman claimed promoter Frank Warren had made a big mistake allowing him the chance to derail Khan's careerpath.

HANSI FLICK

Germany coach Joachim Loew's No2 was the key man in the dugout on Thursday during their quarter-final clash with Portugal. The result was the Germans played their best football of the tournament so far and qualified for the next round convincingly.

Loew is back for Wednesday's semi, but will Flick's tactics remain?

SIR CLIFF RICHARD

With Wimbledon getting under way this week and the traditional British weather in full flow, the scene is set for the English crooner to steal the show with a classic rendition of Singing in the Rain.

GRANT ELIOTT

The South African-born Black Cap is making his ODI debut in New Zealand's series with England this week.

The talented all-rounder was drafted in for the off-form James Marshall and has impressed so far, taking 3-23 in five overs in Wednesday's rain-sodden second ODI in Birmingham, England.

TIGER'S KNEES

Tiger Woods has ruled himself out for the rest of the season as he undergoes surgery. So, as the Buick Open gets under way this week, golf fans will be praying the World No1's operation goes smoothly.
