LIFE OF A CYCLIST

It's Tour de France time and many will be imagining themselves as professional cyclists riding the gruelling 3,500km route on a bike, climbing up mountains and plummeting down slopes at 90kph.

While you are at it, also imagine this, in the words of German cyclist Jens Voigt: "If they had to take the fight against doping any further, they'd have to come and live in my house! I've been tested by the AFLD (French anti-doping agency), by the UCI (International Cycling Union), by WADA (World Anti Doping Agency) and others. I have to give the authorities three month's notice of my whereabouts, even if I want to take my kids to the pool or go to the cinema with my wife. Does anyone have an idea of what we go through?"

NELLA IN TO BOWL

"Unsurprisingly, [Andre] Nel is as popular with cricket traditionalists as naked wicket-keepers. He's also shelled out enough in fines to bankroll his own Twenty20 tournament," says BBC Sport's Tom Fordyce as he gives an insight on South Africa's hot-tempered fast bowler Andre Nel.
