Anything but Funny

In this "Americanised" version of Funny Games, Austrian director Michael Haneke produces an exact replica of his 1997 German-language, psychological thriller.

Here, Naomi Watts and Tim Roth play couple, Ann and George, who take their young son, Georgie, on holiday to Long Island.

As they settle in to their holiday home, two polite but slightly strange young men, played by Michael Pitt and Brady Corbet, knock on their door, asking to borrow some eggs.

However, it turns out that this isn't their actual motive as they take the family hostage and begin to initiate a series of increasingly sadistic games.

The tension mounts as Georgie and Ann try to escape, which only provokes their captors to carry out more degrading and ruthless actions.
