Tell us more about your company. We are a PR and marketing company that specialises in fashion, beauty and luxury lifestyle brands.

You were previously a journalist; why did you decide to change direction? Having been a journalist for over 10 years, I found the efficiency of some PRs to be less affective than their international counterparts. So with a full understanding of journalist needs and deadlines, we're aiming to take the lead in setting new standards.

What sets you apart from other companies? Our team works purely on a proactive basis and we ensure that we provide quick and solid responses to requests and queries, as well as constantly pitch fresh ideas. It is important our media relations remain strong by having regular meet and greets so that we have a solid understanding of each publication.

Has the communications sector been affected by thefinancial crisis? While marketing budgets have been cut by many firms, PR seems to be the preferred option and is thriving. With editorial coverage generally viewed as being three times as effective as advertising, plus more cost-efficient, it is the ideal time for us to have launched.

What do you think of the industry in the region at the moment? I think that while international names in PR have ruled the roost for the past decade, the trend is slowly shifting towards smaller boutique agencies. While an international company may seem like the fail-safe option, it does not necessarily mean that they will provide the same level of service that is offered in other regions.

What do you think is the weakness of the industry? I think there is a misunderstanding about journalists' needs. Once it is resolved, it is a great region to work as it is a small close-knit community.

I'm Eating at…

FASHION LOUNGE AT THE JUMEIRAH BEACH RESIDENCE, DUBAI MARINA Fashion Lounge serves possibly the best mushroom soup I have ever tasted. If I have room to fit it in, the cheesecake is pretty irresistible also. For drinks, I like to hang out at Hive in Souk Al Bahar.
