Cinema that'll really move you

A giant mobile cinema screen that has travelled across the world entertaining thousands at open-air venues, will stop off in the UAE in November to showcase the magic of cinema.
The Madinat Jumeirah and the Emirates Palace hotel will each host 12 nights of top films, from November 4 until December 6, supported by live international acts.
The 4,000 square metre screen has been conceptualised by SwissOpenAir, a global entertainment company that offers outdoor seating for more than 2,200 people at a time.
The screen itself, which will be elevated by hydraulic technology and has 32 digital surround-sound speakers, is being brought to the UAE in association with Hydra Properties. There are plans to make this an annual event.
Farzin Samadia, CEO of SwissOpenAir, said the UAE is an ideal location and fits in with the company's ethos of having dramatic backdrops to its events. "We are very happy to bring the screen to the UAE. In Sydney we have the Sydney Opera House in the background and now we will have the Burj Al Arab and the Emirates Palace," he told Emirates Business.
"What is unique about this event is that it is the largest mobile screen in the world, so we believe the location is key. You can also watch films under the stars."
The screen will be set up first in Dubai before moving on to the capital. Although the programme has not been announced, organisers will feature a selection of films from the Middle East, Bollywood and Hollywood.
Tickets are expected to cost Dh50 and will be available at Virgin Megastores and the Time Out box office. VIP boxes and corporate booths will also be available.
