An exhibition of recent work by Iranian artist Fereydoun Omidi is currently on show at the XVA Gallery in Bur Dubai's Bastakiya heritage district.

Omidi's works are part of the gallery's initiative to offer its audience an opportunity to discover new talents from the Iranian contemporary art scene.

The Iranian-born artist has found a cult-following among the region's arty set, and has been identified as worthy of being collected.

The exhibition at XVA will be his first major show in the emirate and will consist of 15 large- and medium-size mixed media works on canvas.

Omidi was born in 1967 in Roudbar, Iran, and attended Azad University. A member of the Iran Society of painters, he has held many exhibitions in Tehran since 1995, as well as being part of a number of group exhibitions internationally, including Japan, Venice and Paris.

He presently lives and works in Tehran and teaches at Azad University.
