Akshay 'King' Kumar returns after the debacle that was Tashan, and this time nothing's been left to chance. Singh is Kinng sees Kumar reunite with his on-screen lucky mascot Katrina Kaif (they've starred in three blockbuster films); but the pairing may be overshadowed by his hit partnerships with director Anees Bazmee (Welcome) and producer Vipul Shah (Waqt).
In this new avatar, Kumar dons the turban to play the traditional Sikh, Happy Singh. Happy is your regular country bumpkin who loves helping people. And even though he sets out with good intentions, his plan always backfires.
Fed up of his do-gooding ways, the towns heads put forward a proposal to be rid off Happy: Go to Australia and bring back Lucky Singh (Sonu Sood), the biggest gangster down under who is giving Sikhs a bad name. Joining him on the mission is Tony Singh (Om Puri).
On his way Happy bumps into Sonia (Kaif) and falls in love. As their romance unfolds, Happy reaches his destination, only to be robbed and left penniless. A kind florist (Kirron Kher) provides a helping hand and points him towards Lucky.
Lucky refuses to quit his ways and during an argument with Happy, the gangster is attacked and left paralysed. Happy is then blackmailed into taking Lucky's place as the kingpin.
Yes, the plot seems ridiculous but industry pundits say the film will surpass Welcome's collections of Rs762m (Dh66.2m). If you enjoyed Welcome, then Singh is Kinng will truly be an ace in the hole.
