With main cast members Zach Braff and Judy Reyes already confirming their departure at the end of season eight, this is probably the last chance to watch Scrubs as we all know it.

The American hit comedy's latest season hits Arab network Showcomedy tonight following its debut in January stateside after a long pause in production due to the writers' strike.

If you've been living under a rock since 2001, Scrubs focuses on the bizarre experiences of John "JD" Dorian (Braff) as he embarks on his medical career in a surreal hospital full of unpredictable staffers and patients. Accompanying him is best buddy Chris Turk (Donald Faison), ditzy on-off girlfriend Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), Turk's wife Carla Espinosa (Reyes), Dr Perry Cox (John McGinley), and the chief of medicine Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins).

There's also the hospital janitor, played by Neil Flynn, who never seems to miss an opportunity to harass JD, or anyone else for that matter.

You'll be pleased to know the eighth season is as hilarious, and irreverent as ever.

Joining the cast is former Friends and Dirt star Courteney Cox Arquette who makes her debut as Dr Maddox, a black-widow-like cutthroat who's ruthless with patients lacking insurance.

She replaces Kelso who was forced to retire after the hospital's board found out his real age. This is probably not the last we'll see of him, because he's determined to return to the Hospital.

As for JD, after surviving his internship and residency, he is now an attending physician with his own class of interns to mentor. Predictably, even though JD has risen in the hospital ranks, he will continue to face many challenges in both his personal and professional life.

The episode starts with an introduction to the new Chief of Medicine, who causes quite a stir, while JD struggles with the new interns.
