Lennox, Stewart keep on shining

Two new albums from veterans of the music industry serve up a slice of the past. We take a look:

The Annie Lennox Collection by Annie Lennox: It's slightly hard to feign surprise when looking at the track-listing of this album. It has exactly what you'd expect, the marvellous Why and No More I Love You's, alongside other hits such as Little Bird and A Thousand Beautiful Things. Needless to say, if you're a fan of Annie Lennox then you'll be a fan of this album.

For those who aren't so sure, it should at the very least serve as a reminder of her song-writing skills. There is a slight surprise at the end of the album, if you haven't heard it yet then you absolutely must listen to her version of the Ash song, Shining Light, it's both equally amazing and terrible.

Unplugged... And Seated Remastered by Rod Stewart: Good ol' Rod is more recognised as a husband and dad these days than Rod The Mod, one of the United Kingdom's finest musicians. This acoustic album, a remastered version of the 1993 Los Angeles show for MTV's Unplugged, will help you remember.

Rod revisits classics like Hot Legs, Tonight's The Night, Handbags And Gladrags and Maggie May with former Faces bandmate Ron Wood. The dynamic duo amaze with their spirited renditions of Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready and Sam Cooke's Having A Party. Diehard fans will love the previously unreleased bonus DVD of the show.
